Why is re-accreditation necessary?
It is the policy with all Registered Training Organisations to update the information in the courses they provide on a regular basis to keep up with advances in technology as well as changes in legislation.
Because legislation and best practise technology is constantly changing, it is essential that chemical users keep up to date with these changes and maintain high levels of knowledge and skills in chemical use. The community also needs to be assured that chemicals are being used safely and correctly by people with a
high level of competency. Therefore, Chemical Safety Training Certificates are valid for a period of 5 years. The expiry date appears on the Accreditation Certificate and I.D. Card. Before this expiry date, it is necessary to renew the Accreditation which will then be valid for a
further 5 years.
Re-accreditation Requirements
People who wish to renew their Certificate must undertake, as a minimum, successful completion of assessments covering label interpretation, calibration of appropriate equipment, and the latest legislation controlling chemical use. This can be achieved by:
- undertaking a re-accreditation course.
- completing an approved Chemical Safety industry Specialist Course.
- undertaking the Chemical Safety Management Course for a second time.
- applying for recognition of other training (RPL/RCC) and undertaking a challenge test covering the Chemical Safety assessments.
Participants may achieve Re-accreditation, or if they wish, undertake additional work and assessment to achieve the higher level AQF 3 or 4Accreditation.
To be recognised for renewal of the AQF 2, 3, or 4 Accreditation, all assessments/activities must be conducted by an instructor registered with a Registered Training Organisation.
On completion of the Re-accreditation Course, details of successful participants will be forwarded to the RTOt. A new Accreditation Card will be forwarded to the successful participants with a with a new expiry date.
