AQF 2 - USING CHEMICALS SAFELY
Responsible chemical use in our community An awareness and basic skills training program
|
About the Program
This program has been developed for pesticide/herbicide users, including community groups, who want to learn how to use chemicals safely but do not need the full training required for agricultural producers.
This course will raise your awareness of the potential hazards and risks associated with chemical use and give you practical information on safe chemical handling and application.
What’s Covered?
By completing this course you will learn how to understand chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets ( now called Safety Data Sheets).
You will also be introduced to the principles of calibration and learn to calibrate a piece of hand held equipment such as a knapsack or drench gun / injectable.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who uses pesticides/herbicides on a small scale or under supervision. We can tailor the program to meet specific needs of groups, eg by including additional information in areas such as non-chemical methods of weed control used by bush regenerators; or common hazardous substances around the house and garden.
What Qualification do I get?
The Chemicals Safely Awareness
program is based on the following endorsed National Chemical Use Units of Competency from the Conservation and Land Management Training Package which are recognised by all industry groups in all States and Territories.
Follow basic chemical safety rules
Apply chemicals under supervision
Participants who successfully complete the assessment requirements of this course will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance and a Statement of Attainment upon request from participating Registered Training Organisations.
This course is aligned to the competency standards at AQF Level 2. Participants requiring Accreditation (AQF Level 3) can apply to have their skills and knowledge in farm chemical use recognised after successfully completing this course. Don't see what you're looking for? Check Site Map Below.
